FWISD Celebrates Exceptional Girls on International Day

Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) has highlighted four exceptional students from the World Languages Institute in celebration of International Day of the Girl.

1. **Yasmeen Abu Omarah**, an 8th grader, moved from Jordan three years ago. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Arabic and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Yasmeen aspires to become a surgeon, motivated by her desire to make a difference.

2. **Mayara Neves**, a sophomore, comes from Cape Verde and has been in the United States for two years. She speaks five languages and excels academically. Mayara is part of the "Our Journeys" club, which promotes cultural diversity. She plans to further her studies in Portugal, focusing on her interests in reading, art, and global learning.

3. **Sofia Gomez**, a junior, is ranked first in her class and is excelling in AP Art 2D. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Sofia is also a dedicated soccer player known for her kindness and thoughtfulness, balancing sports and academics effectively.

4. **Mara Rodriguez**, another junior, is involved in the WLI Estudiantina and is recognized for her dancing skills. Mara is known for her confidence and positivity and intends to join the U.S. Marine Corps, demonstrating strength and determination in her endeavors.

These young women, along with many others in FWISD, represent the strength and potential of girls in their communities.
